How to Export Your Sabadell Transactions to Excel

How to Export Your Sabadell Transactions to Excel

If you keep your accounts in a spreadsheet or an app, sooner or later you'll need the same thing: your Banco Sabadell account transactions in a file you can open in Excel. Banks and lenders ask for it too when you apply for a mortgage or a loan. The good news is Sabadell lets you download it in a couple of clicks, with more format options than you'd expect. Here's how, from the website and the app, and what to watch out for.

From online banking (website)

This is the most convenient route, since it lets you choose the format and narrow the period at your own pace. Once you're logged in:

  1. Go to bancsabadell.com and log into your online banking.
  2. Go to Operativa diaria → Cuentas → Saldos y movimientos (Daily banking → Accounts → Balances and transactions).
  3. Select the account and adjust the date range you want to export.
  4. Click Download (the icon is usually above the transaction list).
  5. Choose the format: Excel, PDF or Norma 43. To analyse your spending, choose Excel. The file downloads; save it.

Online banking lets you view and filter transactions going back up to 10 years, which is more limited at an ATM or branch. Menu names can change with updates.

From the mobile app

In the Sabadell app you can open the account, filter transactions by date and download or share the statement from the account detail screen. To work with the data in a spreadsheet, the website remains the most convenient route, since it lets you pick Excel directly.

Excel, PDF or Norma 43? Which to choose

  • Excel: the most convenient for analysing in a spreadsheet or importing into a finance app. This is what you want 90% of the time.
  • PDF: only for archiving or printing. Not usable for analysis or import: it's a picture of the statement, not data.
  • Norma 43: a standard Spanish banking format used by accounting and treasury software to import transactions automatically. If you just want to review your spending, you don't need it.

Need CSV instead of Excel? Download the Excel file and use "Save as → CSV" in your spreadsheet app; it's the universal format almost every app understands.

How many months to download

To see where your money goes, download at least one full month. If it's for a mortgage application, banks usually ask for the last 3 to 6 months. Since Sabadell lets you pull up to 10 years, take the chance to review older months too — and while you're at it, catch your small recurring expenses, those small charges that repeat without you noticing.

Once you have the Excel file, then what?

Downloading it is only half the job. The other half — the part that actually tells you something — is categorising every transaction to see where your money goes. Doing that by hand in Excel works for month one and gets abandoned by month two.

In Inveriok, you upload that same Sabadell Excel file and it categorises itself: you see your income statement, your savings rate and your small recurring expenses without typing anything in. And if you'd rather not upload a file every month, you can log transactions by hand instead: that's how transaction import works, with no bank connection and no credentials shared with anyone.

Frequently asked questions

What formats does Sabadell use to download transactions?

From online banking, Banco Sabadell lets you download transactions in Excel, PDF or Norma 43. To analyse them in a spreadsheet, choose Excel; the PDF is only good for archiving, and Norma 43 is a format meant for accounting software.

What is Sabadell's Norma 43?

It's a standard Spanish banking format (the "cuaderno 43") used by accounting and treasury software to import transactions automatically. If you just want to review your spending, you don't need it: download in Excel.

How much history can I download from Sabadell?

From online banking and the app you can view and filter transactions going back up to 10 years, which is usually more limited at an ATM or branch. Still, for reviewing your everyday spending, downloading one or a few recent months is enough.

Do I need to connect my bank to an app for this?

No. Downloading the Excel file creates a file that's yours to analyse anywhere, without giving any third party access to your banking credentials.
