How to Export Your Revolut Transactions to Excel

How to Export Your Revolut Transactions to Excel

If you use Revolut as your everyday account or for travel spending, sooner or later you'll want the same thing: your transactions in a file you can open in Excel to see where your money goes. You're sometimes asked for it too, to back up expenses or for tax filing. The good news is Revolut generates the statement in Excel or CSV in a couple of taps. Here's how, from the app and from the website, and what to watch out for.

From the mobile app

The fastest route if you manage everything from your phone:

  1. Open the Revolut app and go to your accounts screen.
  2. Go into Transactions or tap the three-dot menu (···).
  3. Choose Statements.
  4. Set the period you want to export.
  5. Select the format — Excel or CSV for analysis — and download or share the file.

From the website (app.revolut.com)

More convenient if you're pulling several months:

  1. Log into app.revolut.com.
  2. Open the Transactions section in the side menu.
  3. Apply the date filter for the period you need.
  4. Click Generate statement and choose the format.
  5. Download the file and save it.

From the website you can generate up to 12 months of transactions per statement; the app may have more restrictions. If you need more history, download it in chunks. Menus can change with updates.

Excel, CSV or PDF? Which to choose

  • Excel / CSV: what you want for analysis. CSV is lighter and more universal (almost every app understands it); Excel includes visual formatting. Either works.
  • PDF: only for archiving or backing up expenses. Not usable for analysis or import: it's a picture of the statement, not data.

A useful Revolut detail: if you operate in multiple currencies, you can download the statement per currency, which stops euros and other currencies getting mixed on the same sheet.

How many months to download

To see where your money goes, download at least one full month. If it's for a full annual review of your finances, pull the last 3 to 12 months. And while you're at it, reviewing the statement is the best time to catch your small recurring expenses: the subscriptions and micro-purchases that pile up on Revolut without you noticing.

Once you have the Excel file, then what?

Downloading it is only half the job. The other half — the part that actually tells you something — is categorising every transaction to see where your money goes. Doing that by hand in Excel works for month one and gets abandoned by month two.

In Inveriok, you upload that same Revolut Excel or CSV file and it categorises itself: you see your income statement, your savings rate and your small recurring expenses without typing anything in. And if you'd rather not upload a file every month, you can log transactions by hand instead: that's how transaction import works, with no bank connection and no credentials shared with anyone.

Frequently asked questions

What formats does Revolut use to download transactions?

Revolut lets you generate the statement in Excel, CSV or PDF. To analyse your spending in a spreadsheet or import it into an app, choose Excel or CSV; the PDF is only good for archiving, not for working with the data.

How many months can I export from Revolut?

From the website (app.revolut.com) you can generate a statement covering up to 12 months. The mobile app may have more restrictions, so if you need a lot of history, do it from the website in chunks.

Excel or CSV for Revolut?

Both work for analysis. CSV is lighter and more universal (almost every finance app understands it); Excel includes visual formatting. If your tool supports both, CSV usually causes fewer problems.

Do I need to connect my bank to an app for this?

No. Generating the statement creates a file that's yours to analyse anywhere, without giving any third party access to your Revolut credentials.
