How it works

Three steps, one decision backed by numbers

1

Enter the purchase

The amount and the financing terms you're offered: APR and term.

2

Add your expected return

The one you expect from your investments if you keep the money invested instead of spending it.

3

Compare the result

Inveriok tells you which option is cheaper in the long run, with your real numbers.

Financing isn't always worse than paying cash

The usual intuition says paying cash is always cheaper, because you avoid interest. But that's only true if that money would otherwise sit idle. If you have that capital invested with an expected return higher than the financing's interest rate, keeping it invested and financing the purchase can work out better in the long run — it's what in finance is called opportunity cost.

Inveriok's comparator does that calculation for you: it sets the total cost of financing (amount plus interest based on the APR and the term) against the opportunity cost of paying cash (what that money would have earned invested at the return you define). The result always depends on your real terms, not on a general rule.

This decision draws on the same data as the can I afford it? simulator and your real-time investments: the more complete your financial profile is in Inveriok, the more accurate each calculation.
